Equity Problem of Practice:

Providing students individualized instruction with their age-alike peers to the greatest extent possible. To deepen our personal and collective understanding of structural racism to make changes to mindsets, practices, and policies to better achieve equity for ALL.

 

 

Equity Goal:

No student will be deprived of access to high quality learning experiences with their age-alike peers. All staff report (through self evaluation) changes in mindsets through the emphasis on Anti-Racist/Anti-Biased work with equity tools enacted in decision making committees and groups.

 

Key Strategies:

● Creating opportunities for deeper relationships with families and outreach in a supportive manner for habitually non-engaging students with our BHW teams.

● Creation of an Equity Leadership/PD Steering team in alignments with key efforts put forward by our district leadership.

● PD to focus Senate Bill 13 to inform practices to achieve greater equity that include collaboration, implementation, connection, and reflection

Academic excellence Problem of Practice:

Knowing the students as learners using multiple assessments for all academic areas to create individualized pathways to improvement within the workshop model.

 

 

Academic excellence Goal:

All students will make growth in all academic areas. With a specific focus on ELA to achieve greater access to other subject areas, our more direct goal is that all students make at least one year of growth--and students who are not currently on grade level make 1.5 years of growth as measured by the IRLA.

 

Key Strategies:

Use of IRLA to frame conversations around academic growth in literacy coupled with measures included in the work of Haggerty and LETRS when appropriate.

● Use the literacy assessments above to create strategic grouping within the workshop model and identify key strategies for small group instruction and monitor growth.

● Teach the district adopted curriculum; ensure that all students receive a guaranteed viable curriculum.

● Ensure that staff have access to quality professional learning in each content area--with a priority on literacy.

 

 

Collaboration Problem of Practice:

Teachers share responsibility for all students. Classroom teachers have a team of teachers to collaborate, plan, refine, and reflect on instructional practices. To more effectively communicate with families to create a collaborative experience to support at home

 

 

collaboration Goal:

All teachers will refine practices to impact student results. Historically underserved families will have a greater understanding of what is happening at the school and how to be an active participant with the school, and how to support their child.

 

Key Strategies:

● Heighten use of principal observations to align instructional practices and follow up with teachers with regard to changes to instructional practices--specifically focusing on literacy.

● Evaluate the effectiveness of PD using the lens of “what will you do differently?” as a tool to gauge the impact of PD.

● Strategic polling (representational) of families to provide input into practices at the school.
