Welcome to Beaverton School District's Talented and Gifted home page. The purpose of this page is to inform students and parents about resources and opportunities available for high achieving students.
The Summa program provides a differentiated, challenging curriculum that meets the cognitive, emotional, and social needs of highly gifted students, while being sensitive to their developmental level.
Summa Eligibility Criteria
99th percentile (age-based) on the Cognitive Abilities Test (CoGAT)
OR
99th percentile on the total Reading or total Math Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) or Oregon Statewide Assessment (OSAS) ELA/Math Scores
AND
at the 97th percentile or higher in a different area: Total ITBS Reading, total ITBS Math/OSAS ELA/Math or CogAT full version
All scores must be from a recently administered CogAT or Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) or OSAS given within a school system. The Beaverton School District does not accept private testing. Students must be TAG identified and live within the Beaverton School District Boundaries.

Timeline for Testing
October - CogAT Screener for all 3rd graders and nominated (parent or teacher) 5th graders
October-November - CogAT Full Version for 3rd and 5th grade students who qualify based on the CogAT Screener
November/December - CogAT - Nominated students in grades K-2
Spring 2023 - Oregon Statewide Assessments - 3rd-5th graders
Students at FLEX will be scheduled to test at location to be determined.
Summa and Learning Options
Summa eligible students may apply for one Learning Option in addition to Summa
Eligible 5th graders will be notified of their Summa eligibility in early October.
For fifth-seventh grade students who live in the Beaverton boundary, but are not enrolled in the Beaverton School District or who attend a BSD Charter School.
Parents/Guardians who submit a form will be contacted once dates have been determined.
